Tasting Notes
100% Syrah from Bien Nacido Block 11b, Santa Maria Valley. 115 cases. Block 11b — planted in 1997 to Baja clone Syrah on 5C rootstock. North-facing slope ensures maximum cool-climate effect. Harvested October 22nd, fermented on skins 19 days. The large format puncheons provide subtle integration of new oak with the powerful structure.
Color:Deep ruby red with a dark purple hue.
Nose:Intense blackberry and violet aromas with hints of black pepper. Classic cool-climate Syrah — savory, peppery, dark-fruited character.
Palate:Rich and velvety. Ripe black cherry, plum, and a touch of smoky oak. Balanced acidity with silky tannins.
