A Study in Cabernet Franc

Few places in California know Cabernet Franc like this. LXV founders created CabFrancMasters — the only program of its kind dedicated entirely to this grape. Four expressions. No distractions. Just the grape and the people who know it best.

Questions About Visiting LXV

Where is the LXV tasting room in Paso Robles?

LXV is at 1306-B Pine Street in downtown Paso Robles, California — in the downtown wine district, a short walk from the Downtown City Park and the town's restaurants and hotels. Once you are downtown you do not need a car to reach us.

Do I need a reservation to taste at LXV?

We recommend booking ahead. Every tasting at LXV is guided and seated, so we hold a table for you rather than pouring at a bar. Reservations are made on Tock. If you are already downtown and hoping to come in the same day, call us at (805) 296-1902 and we will tell you what is open.

How much does a wine tasting at LXV cost?

The Classic Wine & Spice Tasting is $35, with the spice pairing added for $15. A Study in Cabernet Franc is $45, or $35 for club members. The MESO Collection is $65, $45 for members and $35 for Meso Society members. A Vineyard & Table Experience at Armaa.N Estate is $75, $60 for members and $45 for Maison Mittal members. The Classic tasting fee is waived with a three-bottle purchase.

What is the wine and spice pairing?

It is the thing that makes LXV different from every other tasting room in Paso Robles. Alongside each wine we serve a spice blend built for it — one of our own proprietary blends, on a piece of local sheep's milk cheese. Spice does not match a wine the way food does. It changes what you are able to taste in the glass: it moves tannin, lifts aromatics, and turns a wine you thought you knew into something else. Guests taste the wine, then taste it again with the spice, and hear the difference themselves.

How long does a tasting take?

Plan on about 90 minutes for the Classic Wine & Spice Tasting. The deeper experiences run longer. Nothing here is rushed — we seat you, we sit with you, and we do not turn the table.

What makes LXV different from other downtown Paso Robles tasting rooms?

Two things. First, the spice: LXV is the winery in Paso Robles that pairs its wines with global spice blends, an idea that comes out of founders Neeta and Kunal Mittal's Indian heritage and their own kitchen. Second, the wines are Bordeaux-inspired and old-world in style — Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Semillon — grown at Armaa.N Estate in the Willow Creek District and farmed organically. USA Today named LXV among the best tasting experiences in America, and Wine Enthusiast has named it a top tasting room in Paso Robles.

Where do LXV's wines come from?

Most of our fruit comes from Armaa.N Estate, our own 13.5-acre vineyard in the Willow Creek District on the west side of Paso Robles — one of the cooler, later-ripening districts in the appellation. Nothing synthetic is used on that soil. We also work with a small number of long-standing partner vineyards, including G2, Denner and Bien Nacido.

Can I visit the vineyard?

Yes, by appointment. A Vineyard & Table Experience at Armaa.N Estate is our Maison Mittal experience, held at the estate itself rather than downtown, and is booked separately on Tock.

Can I do the LXV tasting at home?

Yes. The Perfumed Garden is our tasting kit: three 180ml LXV wines, three custom spice blends, and on-demand tasting videos with Neeta. It is $95, serves two, and ships to your door.

Can I bring a group?

Yes. Small groups are what the room is built for. For seven or more, or for anything private, email [email protected] and we will set it up rather than have you book seat by seat.
