Tasting Notes
100% Nebbiolo from Santa Ynez Vineyard, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara. 135 cases. Harvested early in the morning, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, aged 16 months in neutral French oak. Our most Barbaresco-like expression to date.
Color:Garnet with orange-brick rim
Nose:Lots of bright, tart fruit — rainier cherries and blackberries. More herbal notes of Benedictine and star anise emerge, along with rosehip and linalool.
Palate:Cola berry sarsaparilla with continental stone fruit — Blenheim apricots and Georgia peaches. A reverse funnel: starting narrow with laser-like acid, then widening to big, chewy rustic tannins. Spectacularly long finish. The most Barbaresco-like Nebbiolo we've made to date.
