Tasting Notes
Black currant, black peppercorns. True Napa Cab style — it just smells big. Dry cedar plank, vanilla/clove combo from the toasting room of a cooperage.
Color Deep inky garnet
Palate Big, chewy, and vervy right on the first sip. California Cab as it's meant to be consumed. Dried herbs — thyme and sage show through. Big tannins and a beautifully acidic backbone carry this wine for days. Will age for years (or decades) but shows stellarly right now.

“A serious, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from the gravelly, well-draining soils of Gateway Vineyard in Paso Robles, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Meso Gateway Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was raised 22 months in 48% new French oak. Blackcurrants, sappy tobacco, and leafy herbs define the bouquet, and it's powerful and inky-hued, with an opulent, deep, layered mouthfeel, ripe, integrated tannins, and a good sense of freshness. It's a solid Bordeaux-style release that's going to have at least 10-12 years of evolution, and possibly quite a bit more depending on how it evolves. There's lots to like here. Drink 2026-2038.”
