LXV FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about LXV Wine — our tasting experience, wines, estate, wine clubs, and more.
-
LXV Wine is a boutique Bordeaux-inspired winery in Paso Robles, California, founded by Neeta and Kunal Mittal in 2010. The winery is best known for pairing each of its wines with a curated global spice blend — a sensory methodology developed by Neeta Mittal that reveals the wine's aromatic architecture.
LXV produces wines under three labels: LXV Wine (flagship), Meso by LXV (single-vineyard reserve), and Maison Mittal (Grand Cru-level prestige).
-
Every wine at an LXV tasting is paired with a hand-sourced spice blend — including ingredients like cardamom, sumac, limu omani (dried Persian lime), and khmeli suneli — that function as calibration tools for the palate rather than food accompaniments.
The experience was named one of the Top 7 Best Tasting Experiences in America by USA Today, and a Top 10 Tasting Room in Paso Robles by Wine Enthusiast.
-
LXV Wine's tasting room is at 1306-B Pine Street in downtown Paso Robles, California 93446. A second location, the Armaa.N Estate vineyard, is situated in the Willow Creek District sub-AVA of Paso Robles.
LXV also produces wine in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux under the Maison Mittal label, connecting the Willow Creek District with one of Bordeaux's most celebrated appellations.
-
The Willow Creek District is considered the premium sub-appellation of Paso Robles. It is characterized by limestone-rich soils, steep southwest-facing slopes, and a strong marine influence from the Templeton Gap that creates diurnal temperature swings of up to 50°F — ideal conditions for producing structured, aromatic wines.
LXV's estate vineyard, Armaa.N, is farmed organically and regeneratively within this district and neighbors acclaimed producers Saxum, Denner, and Linne Calodo.
-
LXV's flagship wines include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Blanc de Franc (a white-vinified Cabernet Franc). The Meso by LXV label features single-vineyard Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate's most expressive blocks.
The Maison Mittal label produces Bordeaux-style wines from both Willow Creek and Saint-Émilion, with the inaugural 2022 vintage earning 96–98 points across all four wines in Somm's Journal.
-
MESO by LXV is LXV's single-vineyard reserve program, built around the philosophy "One Vineyard, One Voice." MESO wines are sourced from individual vineyard blocks and designed to express terroir with minimal intervention.
The 2023 MESO Cabernet Franc was named Red Wine of the Vintage for Paso Robles by Decanter magazine, affirming the Willow Creek estate's place among California's finest Cabernet Franc sources.
-
Maison Mittal is the prestige label created by Neeta and Kunal Mittal, connecting the Willow Creek District in Paso Robles with Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. It is produced by Frederick Ammons, the sixth American to earn the Diplôme National d'Œnologue from Bordeaux, and draws on farming at Château Le Chatelet — a Grand Cru Classé estate.
The inaugural 2022 vintage earned 96–98 points across all four wines in Somm's Journal, making Maison Mittal one of California's most critically acclaimed debut collections.
