Dear LXV mitra (friend),
Harvest is in the air with fabulous updates coming in from all of our premium vineyards. According to Jason Yeager, vineyard manager at Niner, 2014 is looking to be one of Paso's finest in many years! LXV's first fruit will be coming in next week, starting with Kiler Canyon Syrah.
Let’s celebrate the beginning of the harvest season with our monthly Club Indian luncheon. This one is going to be special.

Unleash Flavor: Indian Luncheon
UNLEASH FLAVOR this Sunday, September 7th at noon with spices! Spices are my muse - to combine them with seasonal produce gives creative joy ! I will be doing short discussion on spices and what spices do to food. We will enjoy dishes inspired by specific spices, and a dish that will be a culmination of the many spices into an exotic dish - the Indian biryani.
$25 per person; $20 per person for group of 4 or more.
Address: 3690 Willow Creek Road, Paso Robles, CA.
As usual, there will 30 mins of wine tasting & discussion, followed by a family style luncheon. You can buy wine by the glass or by the bottle for the table.

LXV Harvest Report
Would you like to join us for harvest? We have a lot of fun joining the crew in picking and mogging, then chaperoning the grapes to the winery where we mog and sort them again before turning them to our winemaker.
In the meantime, here is what is happening in the vineyards…
Kiler Canyon’s, Don Hofer notes that cool nights are critical to the maintenance of adequate acid in the fruit which should result in a lively, complex tasting rather than a flabby low acid wine.

Niner’s Jason Yeager shares that the Cab Franc clusters are very loose with lots of room for air and light penetration. This helps with overall flavor development and increases complexity of the wines.
