Heart Note is inspired by Gandhayukti (Art of Perfumery), the 18th Art of KamaSutra. The label features artisan candle maker, Mary Ramos, as she crafts her perfumes.
Composed from nearly all of the varieties we work with throughout the harvest season, this Rosé is a powerful indicator of the quality of the 2014 Vintage. Primarily Syrah, from four different vineyard blocks, the wine’s color is a beautiful, delicate salmon pink. On the nose, a significant amount of Grenache adds citrus and watermelon notes to the earthier, more berry-driven Syrah base. Tempranillo gives spice, and Merlot rounds out the palate with a nice pop of red cherry fruit. A small amount of Viognier lifts the nose and palate, contributing brightness, balance, and a slight floral hint to the wine. Overall, the wine is complex enough to hold up to a number of seasonal foods (even the most flavourful Indian dishes the Mittals can conjure up) and welcoming enough on its own for pre-dinner sipping.
A blend of 38% Syrah, 28% Grenache, 17% Tempranillo and the rest Merlot and Viognier, raised all in barrel, the 2014 Heart Note Rosé gives up plenty of cherry and strawberry fruits intermixed with notes of wild herbs and Provencal garrigue on the nose. Full, layered and rich, enjoy this big, food friendly effort over the coming 6-12 months.
